平成24年8月から長野市の中学校で外国語指導助手（ALT）として勤務。

長野市の皆様へメッセージ

Kia ora minasan,

I am the New Zealand born equivalent to your own Ainu. My background is of New Zealand Maori and European-for which I am proud.

I am 26 years of age, and previous to working here studied a post-graduate course in teaching history and art. My main passion is art and culture, so I do feel lucky to be here. For me the attraction to Nagano and Japan in general, is its wide variety of traditional and new architecture, delicious food, crazy fashion, and festivals which pertain uniquely to Nippon.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy learning about Japan through the people of Nagano. I love the strength and pride people have towards traditional culture here. A good point would be Zenkoji, which really is the heart and origin of this city. I also admire the respect, every day mannerisms, and thoughtfulness which can be found between people of all ages here.

私は、日本でのアイヌ民族のような民族として、ニュージーランドで生まれました。私の家族のルーツはニュージーランドマオリとヨーロッパ系で、私はそれを誇りに思います。

私は26歳で、日本で働く前は大学院で歴史教育・芸術教育を勉強しました。芸術や文化にも情熱をささげる私にとって、ここ（長野）にいることはラッキーなことだと思います。私にとって長野、そして日本の魅力は多種多様な伝統的、現代的な建築、おいしい食べ物、独特なファッションやお祭りなど、日本ならではのものです。

学校で授業をしていない時、私は人から長野について学ぶことを楽しんでいます。皆さんが伝統的な文化に対し、大変誇りを持っていることが大好きです。良い例としては善光寺。本当に長野市の「心」であり「原点」となるものです。そして、あらゆる世代の人々が持っている尊敬の心、毎日の習慣、心遣いにも感心しています。
