To my landlady who always gives me vegetables, to the farmer on a mountain in Wakaho whom helped me turn my car around and to the mothers who explained to me how to fill out the order forms for school wear and to my precious co-workers who laughed with me when I told them that I ate a bitter persimmon that caused my throat to sting and burn, I want to say a big "Thank you." Without your kindness I would be stranded on some way-too-narrow (by American standards) to be called a street in somewhere in the mountains.

When not translating or participating in international exchange events, I love to explore the hidden treasures of Nagano. Nagano has a fascinating history and culture waiting to be discovered. I mean, where else in Japan does the local cuisine include bugs?
