長野市デザインウィーク善光寺表参道イルミネーションイベントを変更されました！
冬季の寒さで長野市を照らすように、様々なイルミネーションイベントが行われます。しかし、台風による被害等で、いくつかのイベントが中止されました。
善光寺イルミネーションイベント（12/14～12/25) は中止。善光寺本堂、内陣、境内のイルミネーションや仲見世通りの装飾も含まれます。
ただし、表参道イルミネーションイベントはまだ実施されます！長野市を励ますよう、中央通り並木はイルミネーションで輝いてて、長野駅善光寺口前広場が装飾されます！
詳細は下の写真に乗せてあります。

Changes have been made for the upcoming Nagano City Design Week Zenkoji Omotesando Illumination Event!
To brighten Nagano City as the winter chill rolls in, we will hold several celebratory events filled with lights and decorations. However, due to complications from the typhoon, a few of the events will no longer take place.
The Zenkoji Illumination Event (12/14～12/25) will be cancelled. This includes the illumination of Zenkoji Temple grounds and within the temple's main hall.
However, the Omotesando Illumination Event will still take place! Lights will be strung along Nagano City's main street Chuodori, and decorations will ornament the main square in front of Nagano Station to fill the city with cheer!
For details regarding other related events that will be held according to plan and ones that will no longer be taking place, please refer to the picture below.

Every year, the CIRs of Nagano collect photos taken by international residents of Nagano capturing their favorite things about Nagano, and exhibit them at various places around the prefecture. The more that people see these scenes, the more we can increase our understanding of international culture and rediscover our own perceptions of the local area.
This year's theme: "The Warmth of Nagano"
Despite the cold climate, Nagano Prefecture is full of warmth! From the warm welcome of the residents, to the heart-warming foods, there's a wealth of ways to get you through the cold winter days!
If you have a special photo from Nagano that makes yo...u feel all warm and fuzzy inside, be sure to share it with the entire prefecture! A winter dinner, the spring-time blossoms, a summer's hike, the autumn colours - we would love to see what makes Nagano warm and cozy for you!

長野県の気候は寒くても、県民、豊かな自然、食べ物は暖かく感じさせてくれます。長野県では様々な暖かい背景が味わえ、素晴らしい思い出を作っていらっしゃる長野県在住の外国籍の方が多いです。
冬の料理、春の咲き始めた花、夏のハイキング、秋の紅葉の暖かい色、長野県在住の外国籍の方に県内で撮影した「あったかい～長野」を表す写真を展示しています。

内容
７月30日(日)に権堂地区で開催予定のイベント「アート×地域×人～生きる事はアートだ～(仮)」で、長野市初のヒューマンライブラリーを北野文芸座で予定しています。今回はそのプレ企画として、NPOカフェまんまるとの協働開催です。
長野市という小さな社会の中で、人々は多様な生き方をし、互いに無関心になっています。地域に新しいコミュニティを作るためには、多様な生き方を理解し取り込んで行く必要があります。そのための一歩として、普段聞くことのできない方の人生のストーリーを直接聞く機会を持ちます。
今、SNS時代に、実際に会って多くの人と交流し理解を深める場となることを期待しています。
ヒューマンライブラリーとは・・・
「本」ではなく「人」です「ヒューマンライブラリー（人間図書館）」は2000年春、コペンハーゲンで毎年開催されるヨーロッパ最古の野外ロックフェス「ロスキルド・フェス」のイベントの一環として、開館したのが始まりです。1日8時間、4日間で延べ1,000人が利用しました。偏見を捨て、互いを知りあう「相互理解」の場所として、世界的に大きなインパクトとなりました。世界に広がり、今はフィンランド、イタリア、オランダ、ポルトガル、スロベニア、オーストラリア、タイ、ルーマニアなど、世界70カ国以上で開館。日本では長崎や東京などでボランティアや学生により開催されています。プレ・ヒューマンライブラリー7月30日本格開催に向けて...」

Shokutabi Nagano is offering a lesson on Sunday, July 3, 2016 on how to wear yukata followed by tea and dessert. The event will run from 9:30 to 12:00 at Teramachi-shouka http://teramachi-shouka.com/.
Participation cost: 1,500 yen. Yukata rentals are also available for an additional 500 yen. Socks, shoes, undergarments, and handkerchief not included.
No cancellation fee will be charged as long as the cancellation is made two days prior to the event. Please do not bring children.

「JICA地球ひろばで世界の展示を見学し、途上国の暮らしなどを疑似体験してみましょう。地球案内人による協力隊体験談（ブータン派遣、青少年活動）もあります。
そのあとは、信州より一足早い桜を愛でる「インド大使館主催桜フェスティバル」へ。インドの物産販売や屋台など、インド文化を感じられるお祭りで、インド大使館は皇居のお堀に面しています。日本でも有数の千鳥ヶ淵の桜は見事ですよ！」

Nagano Prefecture is the prefecture with the longest life expectancy in the country, and the reasons behind this are being explored in detail. One reason that has been highlighted is Nagano's food culture and intake of products of fermentation such as miso. Nagano City has teamed up with the Institute of Fermentation for the Future, and a course is now being offered in English about the benefits of fermentation and how fermentation works. This course will certify participants as Hakko (Fermentation) Ambassadors, so you can reap the benefits of fermented food products and share the good of fermentation with the world. 長野市の灯明祭りは２月６日～１４日善光寺の周辺に開催されます。善光寺のライトアップに加えて道で列に並べた手作りの切り絵の灯篭があり、屋台で食べ物と甘酒が販売されます。
Nagano City's Lantern Festival will be held Saturday, February 6 through Sunday, February 14 at Zenkoji Temple. In addition to the light up of Zenkoji temple, the street will be lined with hand cut paper lanterns and booths will be selling treats and amazake.

The Festa will feature numerous musical and dance performances as wellas a model trains display, snack booths, and a flea market. Please see the flier pictured below for more information.

The 2015 World Festa in Nagano will be hosted on Sunday, November 29th in the basement of Monzen Plaza in Nagano City. The event will be held from 11AM to 3PM and will feature the following: booths introducing various cultures and foods, stage performances, hands-on introduction to traditional garments, games, and a kids corner. Entrance to the event is free, so please join us!

Tickets are now available for the 2015 Nagano World Festa being hosted on Sunday, September 6th. The event will take place at the Hotel Park Nagano. Entrance is free from 4:30PM to 6:00PM. The second portion is from 6:30PM to 9PM and is 3,000円 for adults (2,000円 for foreigners), 1,000円for students high school level or below, and free for children who are preschoolers or younger. Tickets are required for the second portion, and food and drink is covered with the ticket.
Tickets can be reserved at the International Exchange Corner on the 3F of Monzen Plaza.

TEDとは
TED とは、カナダのバンクーバーで年一回、大規模な世界的講演会を主催している非営利団体です。TEDが主催している講演会の名称をTED Conferenceと言い、学術・エンターテイメント・デザインなど様々な分野の人物がプレゼンテーションを行います。講演会は1984年に極々身内の サロン的集まりとして始まったが、2006年から講演会の内容をインターネット上にて無料で動画配信するようになり、それをきっかけにその名が広く知られ るようになりました。講演者には非常に著名な人物も多く、例えばジェームズ・ワトソン（DNAの二重螺旋構造の共同発見者、ノーベル賞受賞者）、ビル・ク リントン（元アメリカ合衆国大統領、政治家）、ジミー・ウェールズ（オンライン百科事典Wikipediaの共同創設者）といった人物がプレゼンテーショ ンを行なっているが、最重要事項はアイデアであり一般的には無名な人物も数多く選ばれプレゼンテーションしています。

What is TED?
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global set of conferences run by a non-profit organization under the slogan, "Ideas Worth Spreading". The first TED event took place in 1984 as a one-off event. Today, the main TED conference is held annually in Vancouver, Canada. The talks cover a wide range of topics of science, culture and academia. I paid a visit to the Art Aquarium featuring a beautiful exhibit incorporating various types of goldfish, lights, music and elements of interior design. I highly recommend going to see this exhibit before the end of May, while it is still in Nagano City at the Mielparque Hotel.

Nagano City's Mielparque Hotel will be hosting the Art Aquarium Exhibit from April 25th to May 31st.
Tickets can be bought in advance (￥900 for adults, ￥700 for elementary/ middle school students) until April 24th online or via 711 copy machines. They can also be purchased at the door or from 711 copy machines on the day of (￥1,000 for adults, ￥800 for elementary/ middle school students).
From 6:00 P.M. the exhibit becomes a Night Aquarium with music and drinks available for purchase. Buying a drink is not required, but please do not bring your own drinks into the exhibit.

Today is the last day that the "Delicious Nagano!" photo exhibition will be on the third floor of Nagano City's Monzen Plaza, just outside of the International Exchange Corner. Next week's location will be the Nagano Prefectural Office in Nagano City. 長野県のおいしそうな写真を是非見に来てください！「長野、おいしそう！」写真展を開催しています。本日はもんぜんぷら座３Ｆの国際交流コーナーで展示を しているのが最後の日です。来週は県庁に展示会場を移します。

The Gokaicho Festival is now under way!御開帳が始まりました！
The raising of the pillar by traditional methods. 昔の工法で回向柱を立てました。
Led by a cow to Zenkoji, the procession of the Opening Parade made its way from Nagano Station to the steps of the temple. (For the story behind the cow please read more here: http://www.gokaicho.com/english/) 善光寺まで牛に引かれていくオープニングパレードの行列は長野駅から善光寺階段へ歩いていきました。（牛の言い伝えの読み続きはこちらへ：http://www.gokaicho.com/about/about.php）
The replica of the sacred statue was then brought out and carried into the temple.
「前立本尊」が神輿で善光寺に担ぎ込まれました。

9月6日に2014年異文化理解講座シリーズに参加し、サモアについてとても勉強になりました。サモア人の生活やサモアの環境等について分からないことが多くて凄くいい経験になりました！
On the 6th of September, I attended the 2014 Foreign Cultures Appreciation Lecture Series and learned a great deal about Samoa. From the Samoan lifestyle to the environment, there were many things that I hadn't known about Samoa, so it was a great learning experience!

長野市内ではかなり暖かいですが、戸隠スキー場では新雪もあり、積雪はなんと100cmもあります！そして２月１日と２日の午後二時から、アルクマととっ がきーとじゃんけん体験もできます！
While it is relatively warm in downtown Nagano City, at Togakushi Ski Area they have new snow and have a base of 100cm! On 2/1 and 2/2 from 2pm you can even play rock-paper-scissors with Arukuma and Togakki!
