TEDとは
TED とは、カナダのバンクーバーで年一回、大規模な世界的講演会を主催している非営利団体です。TEDが主催している講演会の名称をTED Conferenceと言い、学術・エンターテイメント・デザインなど様々な分野の人物がプレゼンテーションを行います。講演会は1984年に極々身内の サロン的集まりとして始まったが、2006年から講演会の内容をインターネット上にて無料で動画配信するようになり、それをきっかけにその名が広く知られ るようになりました。講演者には非常に著名な人物も多く、例えばジェームズ・ワトソン（DNAの二重螺旋構造の共同発見者、ノーベル賞受賞者）、ビル・ク リントン（元アメリカ合衆国大統領、政治家）、ジミー・ウェールズ（オンライン百科事典Wikipediaの共同創設者）といった人物がプレゼンテーショ ンを行なっているが、最重要事項はアイデアであり一般的には無名な人物も数多く選ばれプレゼンテーションしています。

What is TED?
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global set of conferences run by a non-profit organization under the slogan, "Ideas Worth Spreading". The first TED event took place in 1984 as a one-off event. Today, the main TED conference is held annually in Vancouver, Canada. The talks cover a wide range of topics of science, culture and academia. These ideas are original and innovative capable of changing the way we think and may give rise to other new ideas with great potential.
